How to get rid of Bloating?

Bloating simply involves excessive amount of solids, liquids, or gas in one’s digestive system. It is the condition of one’s belly feeling swollen after eating. It can cause increased pressure and discomfort, and sometimes make the stomach look bigger.

Some of the proven ways to avoid Bloating are as follows:

1. Don’t eat too much at a time:

If one is eating big meals and start getting uncomfortable after some time, then it’s high time they start trying with the light meals. A person with a tendency to be bloated will usually experience discomfort from a smaller amount of food than a person who rarely feels bloated. For these people, simply eating smaller meals can be highly useful.

2. Avoid swallowing air and gases:

Gas swallowed when one eats is produced by carbonated drinks (i.e. soda, or fizzy drinks). They contain bubbles with Carbon Dioxide, a gas that can be released from the liquid after it reaches ones stomach. Chewing gum, drinking through straw, and eating while in a hurry, can also lead to increased amounts of swallowed air.

3. Don’t Eat Foods that give you Gas:

Some high foods can help produce high amount of gas. Some of them are beans and lentils and whole grains. Fatty foods can also slow down digestion and emptying of the stomach. This can have benefits for satiety (and possibly help with weight loss), but can be a problem for people with a tendency to bloat.

4. Be considerate with Sugar Alcohols:

Sugar Alcohols are commonly found in sugar-free foods and chewing gums. These may cause digestive problems because they tend to reach the bacteria in the large intestine which digest them and produce gas.

5. Get rid of constipation:

Constipation is a common digestive problem and has various causes. Soluble fiber is often considered as a solution for constipation. So for people suffering from Bloating, fiber must be taken in a controlled amount.

6. Try anti-bloating foods and drinks:

A few studies suggest that peppermint tea, ginger, pineapple, parsley, and yogurts containing ProbioticsĀ (“good” bacteria) may help reduce bloating.
