Homemade Pudding
Pudding is a kind of food that can be served either as a dessert or a savory dish. Why buy store foods when you can make pudding just from few ingredients. It not only tastes good but is also very easy to make.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch (large tablespoons)
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
NOTE: You can use 1 -6 tablespoon sifted cocoa powder if you want to make chocolate pudding.
Optional garnish: Blueberries, candied orange, strawberry, raspberries, mint, butter cookie, whipped cream.
Direction:
Firstly, get all 3 cups of milk scalding in a pot. You can microwave as well.
While the milk boils in the pot, take 4 eggs and separate yolks from the whites. You can either discard them or use it to make omelettes.
Keep the yolks in a bowl and beat cornstarch and sugar in it. Continue whisking the ingredients until they all settle down.
Now pour all of the egg yolk mixture into the hot scalding milk and beat vigorously. Keep beating the mixture until they get completely liquified.
Add the salt, butter and vanilla extract to the mixture and start whisking until the butter is well dissolved.
Continue to stir until the pudding thickens (note: keep it warm) and once it gets thick you can add the sifted cocoa powder (if you want to make chocolate pudding). Stir it well until cocoa powder incorporated.
You can serve warm or refrigerate for 2 hours. Note: you can serve the pudding either by using the garnish or without using the garnish.
